When we want to analyze the games at home we need to see it on our wooden board. Here we are left with the touch, the ease of sliding of the pieces and the lead of the base that gives that consistency to the piece we want. Even the moves marked with question marks look good on a wooden chessboard.
Professional chessboard
Tournaments have rules and standards that must be met. The first is that they must be pieces of type Staunton 6 or Staunton 5, failing that. The squares must be at least 50mm wide to be able to visualize the moves well. The coordinates are recommended and useful, although not mandatory.
Chess Club
Clubs have special needs: They require battle-ready pieces and boards that are shock resistant and last a long, long time. Plastic chess boards are ideal in these cases. You can buy them separately or by buying the complete sets of board and pieces.
