2nd revised edition

In contrast to the constant evolution of the chess opening theory, the endgame is much more durable. If we refer to the basic endgames, it is almost immutable. So once it is "properly" learnt, it will be knowledge we can trust forever. Most players have deficiencies in their knowledge of the theoretical endgames and this affects the result of their games and the general evolution of their play.

The new time rhythms, which do not allow to discover all the subtleties of an endgame during the game, aggravate the situation of those players who do not have a solid prior knowledge.

This book will be of great help to all those who want to solve this problem, and with it, the author demystifies the complexity of the endgame theory.

"The 100 Endings You Need to Know" does not intend to be an encyclopedia, covering all known endgames and serving as a reference, but rather a practical tool that improves knowledge of the theoretical endgames that occur more often in a live game.

When we play an endgame, our thoughts are directed to reduce it to a known position. If we have a good foundation and a solid knowledge of these positions, our chances of success will be much higher.

The success of the first edition, which sold out quickly, has encouraged us to improve the book and launch this second edition that you have in your hands.

In it, errors have been corrected, new examples have been added, and more detailed explanations of some positions, as well as an increased number of exercises that should help the reader to check their knowledge of the endings and allow them to know which ones need a new review.
