Reviews by Revi

The purpose of the exercises included in this book is to improve calculation skills in the endgame. Solving them will help the reader to expand their knowledge and understanding of this stage of the game. As the main feature is the limited material on the board, there is a chance that the patterns discovered in reading this book will appear in their games, so they must try to imprint them somewhere in their memory!

An introductory chapter of "Warm-up" followed by 10 other sections address the endgames from different angles: "Find the technical victory"; "Unexpected tactical blows" or "A sixth sense for the endgames"… The key chapter to become a specialist in the endgame is undoubtedly "Test your reflexes" The better reflexes you develop, the better endgame player you will be!

Throughout the book, the most challenging exercises are marked with an (*). The theoretical positions, which are essential to memorize, are indicated with a (T). At the beginning of each chapter, a help section will provide guidance for exercises marked with an asterisk.

We hope this book is an excellent complement to your knowledge of endgames! Romain Edouard, who achieved an ELO of 2702 points, has been part of the French national team since 2001. In 2006 he won the gold medal at the European Under-16 and in 2007 the silver medal at the European Under-18 and at the World Under-18 Championship. Since becoming a Grandmaster at the age of 18, he has won numerous international tournaments, Al Ain Open 2012, Dubai Open 2014, among others. Edouard is recognized as a dynamic player and an expert fighter for the initiative from the first move. He has written four books. He is also a columnist for prestigious media such as Chess Base, Europe Echecs and Chess Review
