Chess for everyone, from eight to eighty years old, from beginners to masters. In "How to Beat Your Dad at Chess", Murray Chandler explains the best way to overcome a stronger opponent - be it a friend, a clubmate or even, your dad! - forcing checkmate with ingenuity. Fantastic game positions reflect the 50 most deadly checkmates used by chess masters to win.

The beginner will learn the ideas associated with checkmate and the examples will help him develop the tactical intuition necessary to carry out attacks, combinations and sacrifices.

The experienced player will find for the first time the systematic treatment of these ideas of checkmate. All experts agree that patterns are essential for success in chess, and this book provides numerous rules of great value.

"How to Beat Your Dad at Chess" helps you easily and entertainingly improve, and also contains many useful explanations and practical tips on how to approach chess games with confidence and success.

Grandmaster Murray Chandler was sub-world champion in 1976, ahead of Gari Kasparov, whom he defeated in his individual match (which makes him one of the few players in the world with a 100% score against Kasparov...). He was a member of the England team that won three silver medals at the 1980s Olympic Games, and served as captain of the selection in 1994. He has been the owner and editor of the British Chess Magazine and author of various successful chess books.
